BOTANICAL DESCRIPTIONS

Habit :

Cratoxylum formosum or Geronggang, a flowering plant in the Clusiaceae family, can grow up to 20 m tall. The bole is usually spiny at the base and bleeds a brownish-red watery sap. The flowers are pink on leafless twigs. The young shoots are also edible and used as raw vegetable, and the wood is also very hard and durable for timber purposes. The tree is sometimes grown as an ornamental.
