BOTANICAL DESCRIPTIONS 

Habit :  
Cratoxy cochinchinense or Geronggang selunsur is a shrub or small timber tree species of primary and secondary forest, up to 30 m tall but usually shorter. Young twigs usually have spines. The leaves are fleshy to papery.Young leaves are deep purple, before turning pinkish-brown to green. The flowers with crimson petals are faintly scented. The young shoots are edible and used as raw vegetable,while the wood is hard and valuable for woodcarvings.
